Dwight W. Phillips has been a member and shareholder of the Firm since 1981, shortly after its inception. He is among an elite group of attorneys who has thirty years or more of practice in the area of Workers’ Compensation Law. His well developed expertise enables him to head the Firm’s Workers’ Compensation Group.
Dwight Phillips has represented a number of Fortune 500 Corporations, including Wal-Mart, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and the Delphi Corporation. He was selected to represent Wal-Mart, based upon a survey which the corporation conducted of all of the workers’ compensation defense practitioners in Michigan. His practice includes both trial and appellate advocacy. Dwight Phillips has an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell peer review system. In addition to his practice, Dwight has served as a volunteer for many years as a hearing panelist for the Attorney Discipline Board for the State of Michigan. He is presently Chairman of a panel.
In addition to the workers’ compensation experience, Dwight Phillips also served as the Executive Director of the Office of Risk Management for the Detroit Public Schools. In that capacity, he oversaw the operations of the District’s Safety Department, Risk Finance Department, Risk Compliance Department and Workers’ Compensation Department.
In the community, Mr. Phillips served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastside Y.M.C.A. His tenure on the Board included a term as the Chairman. He presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Railroad Passengers, representing Region 6.
Dwight W. Phillips is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, where he was the President of his graduating class. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He was admitted to practice, in the State of Michigan, in 1976. |
